Art Groups
Sometimes in life we can feel stuck and feel like we are going through the same motions everyday which can lead to feeling depressed, perfection paralysis, a lack of passion, or feeling a lack of motivation. Giving yourself permission to play and explore through art is a powerful way to break that cycle. At Sketchbook Counseling, Crystal Chen guides groups of all ages and backgrounds—no art experience required—to move beyond stagnation by rediscovering imagination and spark creativity.
Groups at Sketchbook Counseling focus on creating an intimate and safe environment for creativity and exploration. Groups are kept small to allow the instructor to provide ample focus and attention on each individual in the group and to foster an inviting environment for all. Children's Expressive Art Group
Start: 09/13/2026
Saturdays 10:30 AM to 11 AM
Ages 7 - 12
Fee: $68 per session
Join us on Saturdays for art making in the morning. Each month the group will focus on a different theme and material to explore. The class will aim to help learn some art skills while also building on creativity skills. When we develop our creativity it helps to support our executive functioning, intelligence, and problem solving skills. Making art groups a routine part of your child's schedule will help them to develop these strengths.
September: Exploring drawing & painting
October: Creating with Clay
November: Building Sculptures
December: Winter Activities

Teen Drawing & Painting Group
Saturdays 1 PM to 2 PM
Ages 9 - 14
Fee: $55 per session
This class provides a small group of participants the chance to learn or build on their drawing and painting skills. In this on going class participants will learn about sketching with graphite, charcoal, painting with watercolors and acrylics.
